SKF’s Toroidal Roller Bearings Accomodate Heavy Loads and Misalignment

The SKF Carb torodial roller bearings serve as non-located bearing in large electric motors (125 Hp and above) with their capability to accomodate very heavy radial loads and compensate for misalignment.

The bearings are suitable for coupled and belted loads and provide users with a single bearing solution for motors regardless of mounting method.

Self-aligning roller bearings combine design features from several types of bearings, according to the company’s press release.

CARB bearings can adjust for axial expansion of the shaft internally, similar to a cylindrical roller bearing. These bearings, like spherical roller bearings, can accomodate misalignment as well. Long self-guiding rollers maximize load capacity, similar to needle roller bearings.

A special design of the rollers allows CARB bearings to reduce the potential for skidding on the raceways.

In addition, the bearings improve lubrication conditions, extend relubrication intervals and improve grease life, all with minimal maintenance.
